Jeg og Svank kom frem til at vi burde starte en ny trend i forhold til månedstemaene. Det hadde jo vært fint med litt oppfriskning i sitatene som ligger i dette automatiske javascriptet på forsiden, og hva er vel en bedre anledning til å få inn litt flere, nye sitater enn dette? Så tanken her er åpenbart at man oppfordres til å poste sitater man liker godt som er relatert til Herzog. Gjerne sitater hentet fra filmene hans, eller sitater fra hans egen munn (gjerne filmrelatert da). Eller kanskje sitater fra helt andre personer som omtaler Herzog? Kjør på i hvert fall.

Også er det ikke en gang Kinski som leverer den! Skal komme tilbake med mer her, gudene skal vite at denne mannen er svært "siterbar". Ellers kult at det opprettes flere Herzog-relaterte tråder. Bra idé! Favoritten min er følgende (lange) monolog fra Burden of Dreams:

 

Kinski always says it's full of erotic elements. I don't see it so much erotic. I see it more full of obscenity. It's just - Nature here is vile and base. I wouldn't see anything erotical here. We have to become humble in front of this overwhelming misery and overwhelming fornication... overwhelming growth and overwhelming lack of order. Even the - the stars up here in the - in the sky look like a mess. There is no harmony in the universe. We have to get acquainted to this idea that there is no real harmony as we have conceived it. But when I say this, I say this all full of admiration for the jungle. It is not that I hate it, I love it. I love it very much. But I love it against my better judgment.

Ja, det må være den beste bruken av den oppbrukte (men vakre) Pachelbels kanon i film, etterfulgt av den svært upassende måten den brukes på i Noes I Stand Alone.

Aguirre er dubbet av en annen fyr, lydopptakene kunne ikke brukes. Kinski tilbød seg å gjøre dubbingen selv, men krevde en svimlende høy sum og Herzog sa nei.

Kinski om Herzog

Herzog is a miserable, hateful, malevolent, avaricious, money-hungry, nasty, sadistic, treacherous, cowardly creep...he should be thrown alive to the crocodiles! An anaconda should strangle him slowly! A poisonous spider should sting him and paralyze his lungs! The most venomous serpent should bite him and make his brain explode! No—panther claws should rip open his throat—that would be much too good for him! Huge red ants should piss into his lying eyes and gobble up his balls and his guts! He should catch the plague! Syphilis! Yellow fever! Leprosy! It's no use; the more I wish him the most gruesome deaths, the more he haunts me.

Godt bevart hemmelighet tror jeg. Har ikke funnet noe info om det. Herzog har ikke snakket så mye om dette, men her er et sitat fra et intervju Roger Ebert gjorde med ham:

 

And then, there's an interesting thing, the real good version is the German version, it's the authentic version, but since we filmed a lot in rapids there was such a huge noise that -- of course we did have some direct sound -- but you could hardly understand a word. We had to post-synch it, so I said to Klaus, "We need you for looping, for one and a half days." He said, "Yes, I'm coming, but it will cost a million dollars." And there was absolutely no way.
